This one took a while to get a review done. The reason for this was a total turn off when I first heard it. It was strange too, because I absolutely love Thievery Corporation as well as good remix projects. All it needed was some good aging. The album starts off with a brilliant reworking of David Byrne’s “Dance On Vaseline and it leads right into one of the albums most interesting track, Baaba Maal’s “I Will Follow You. Rob Garza and Eric Hilton do a fine job turning Baaba’s track into a chill out track. Other bands that have their songs worked by the Thievery Corporation are Stereolab (“Tickertape of the Unconscious), Rockers Hi-Fi, Pizzacato 5, Gus Gus, and Black Uhuru just to name a few. Garza and Hilton together provide one of the best remixing team that you will ever hear and Abductions is a great example of their work. Give it a couple tries and you will fully appreciate it.
