Pulley - Matters
It seems rather ironic that I am caught reviewing new Ten Foot Pole and Pulley albums in the same week. When major-leaguer Scott Radinsky left Ten Foot Pole, I wonder if he ever thought that he would front Pulley for ten years. Yup, it's nearing a decade and they are back with an album entitled Matters. I have always thought that they get the short end of the stick when it comes to the SoCal punk sound. They have some of the most powerful, melodic punk that has ever graced the punk scene. Scott's vocals are so inspired and fired up that it's hard not to get into this punk. It's tracks like the killer "Huber Breeze" that make Pulley the band that they are. Listen to the chunky guitars of "Looking Back" with Scott providing one of the best punk choruses ever. I always get the feeling that Radinsky and crew have one massive album in them. It might be Matters but I get the feeling they have something really big. Don't get me wrong, Matters is an awesome album and I'll be listening to it until their next one comes. I like how they switch it up with slower tracks like "Immune". I have to admit that I thought their finale "Thanks" was rather impressive in the style Green Day's "Time of Your Life". A short and sweet ballad that really shows that Pulley is a band with heart. Each album gets better and better.
