I'm sure by know that any internet savvy people would have come across the Plastic Jesus song. I remember a website that just had that song playing over and over. Check out the story here. Anyway, country punkers Jackass have decided to make an album with the same title as well as covering the song. And they pick some pretty interesting tracks to cover as well. Try on a country version of Madonna's "Music" for size. They easily make the song their own. What about the Backstreet Boys' "I Want It That Way"? It's all fun and games with Jackass but the interesting thing here is that they are all quality musicians making some quality music. Sure, they pick some funny songs to play up but they easily make them sound different and unique. Toby Emery has a great vocal style for this type of cow-punk and with the addition of founding Bad Religion member, Pete Finestone, all seems to be set for Jackass to achieve a cult status. All of their original songs are great too. The album starts out with the crud "Country" ("Darling, you put the cunt in country, Baby, well I want it back"). Check them out if they come to your town. It promises to be a raucous live show.
