The Brat Attack is a new punk band from Winnipeg that has a bit of a different sound. It is a male/female fronted band that steals ideas from the mall-punk sounds of Blink 182 and melds them with more old school sounds to come up with a fresh sound. The group formed in Winnipeg in early 2001 and released their debut album, One Revolution Per Minute, on their own label. While they couldn't keep it on the shelves, Longshot and Steel Capped moved in and offered to put out their next album. Destruction Sound System is the result of those studio sessions and it's one of the best things to come out on Longshot yet. It took a couple listens to really get into but The Brat Attack is fairly accessible and should be enjoyed by more than just punk fans. They have pop sensibilities and yet hold true to punk ethos. Seana has a cute voice but it really fits the music. Ben's are a little more gruff but not enough to force people away. The group have a bit of a Face To Face or other SoCal punk feeling going on. It's all in good fun and it's really good music too.
