The worst thing a band could do, other than make bad music to start with, is insert a bonus track with any more than 30 seconds between that and the last track. Number 1, bonus tracks are so 1990s. Number 2, people aren't going to wait around for it. The Suggestions go one step further and insert various guitar/amp sounds in between the second last and last songs. That drives me nuts. It's really too bad that I'm jaded now because The Suggestions do have some great music to hand out. One of the best songs on Mix Tape is that last song ("Antidote") that you have to wade through shit to get to. Maybe if you were a huge popular band to begin with but not as your first "demo". The album starts off great with "Be True", a sunny, very upbeat guitar-oriented rock track. The production seems to fail on track two. It gets a little fuzzy and distorted. Again, too bad because the songwriting is really good. The Suggestions need to sit back and take their time with their next effort and I'm sure it will be a success. John Brodeur is a great songwriter, now he needs to follow through with a great album. Just some suggestions.
