The Shore - Shore EP
The Shore is a new group from the US that have a lot in common with a lot of past and present Brit Pop bands. At times it feels like you are listening to the Verve and then a heavier rock groove hits and you could swear that The Galagher Brothers have let loose. This EP is just a smattering of what to expect on their full-length that is due out later this year. But if these four tracks are any sign of the diversity of the group founded by Ben Ashley then we can expect a fine album. The track "Make Me Feel Free" is the best of the four with the almost classic rock sounding "I Found You" a close second. It sounds as if Richard Ashcroft was singing a Neil Young song. "Firefly" gets the EP off to a fairly rocking start with a total nod in the Verve direction and "Hold On" is a mellower sound with some gentle guitar playing leading the way. I don't want to spoil the full-length for you so watch for the Shore's self-titled debut due out this summer (2004).
