Spacer is basically the solo project of acclaimed producer Luke Gordon and Beamer is one of his best releases. Luke Gordon has been knee-deep in this type of music working with the likes of Howie B, UNKLE, and DJ Krush. The Spacer moniker is all about Luke though. He is not afraid of anything either. Spacer takes on house, jungle, dance, jazz and overall, Luke manages to keep it all together with experience. Spacer could have easily ended up sounding like a hodge-podge of styles but with someone like Luke Gordon looking after things we get a totally consistent and completely compelling release with Beamer. Most of the tracks are instrumental save a couple like the opening track “Smile and they are all mostly a bit on the dark side. Songs get going super fast like the title track (to which there is a multimedia video included) or are laid back in dub fashion like “Is It Real. Spacer takes you on a nice trip through Beamer and leaves you unharmed at the end. You wake up feeling refreshed.
