Pantera, Hatebreed, Morbid Angel, Static-X, Meshuggah, Nothingface. Do I have your attention yet? That's just a few of the bands that grace the Texas Chainsaw Massacre soundtrack. Now I haven't had a chance to check out the remake of the classic horror flick, even though I would really like to check it out on the big screen. The soundtrack will have to suffice right now. This is one heavy fucking soundtrack. I would have to say that it's almost too heavy. Most albums of this nature have a couple places where they lighten up but the Texas Chainsaw Massacre soundtrack. One of the lighter moments is actually the Fear Factory track. Oh, it's plenty heavy but the guitars are a little gentler than the likes of Hatebreed and Meshuggah. These tracks are great though. I especially dug the Morbid Angel track. I haven't listened to them for a long time. A few unheard of bands like Index Case and Mushroomhead really stand up against the other timeless metal bands. Canada's own Finger Eleven even makes an appearance with "Stand In Shadow". Another newcomer I haven't heard of before is Core-Tez with an interesting track called "Five Months". It's got a world beat breakdown in it that really adds to the depth of the song. While some may disagree, I think that the soundtrack could have used a little more variety on the music. It does have a consistent sound but when you are being pummeled with the likes of Shadows Fall and Static-X you sometimes need a break. Some great songs on here though.
