You want the defining emo band of the 2000's? Emery just may be it. They are all from South Carolina but have recently relocated to Seattle to pursue music as a career. Emery may have found the right combination. They incorporate very emotive lyrics with strong singing and the occasional outburst of screams. The music is intense but also very listenable. The Weak's End starts out with one of the strongest tracks on the album, "Walls". The next track, "The Ponytail Parades" is a little less intense, with a gentle and different beat to it. The guitar work provided by Toby, Matt and Devin is very cool too. The vocals are shared between the guitarists as well. Along with Emery you get the positive messages that usually accompany a Tooth & Nail artist. Maybe not religion but positivity reinforced. Some of the songs are a little too sprawling for my liking, like the closer "The Secret". It just seems like a wasted epic, not pulling the listener in as much as it should. I didn't really care for "By All Accounts (Today Was A Disaster)" either.
