Chromeo - She's In Control
Chromeo is a new Montreal based duo that is trying to inject some much needed inspiration into electro-pop. Dave 1 and Pee Thug are the two responsible and on February 3, 2004 they plan on unleashing She's In Control on unsuspecting listeners. It's a bleep fest that fans of Fantastic Plastic Machine and other like beat makers would totally get off on. Chromeo is funky and fresh. Synth lines that haven't been heard for decades are dusted off for this debut album. The track "You're So Gangsta" really sounds like it was straight out of the disco era. "Destination: Overdrive" starts out with a cool guitar riff, then the phasers hit and we are blown all to hell. I think "Needy Girl" is the first single and you can't get much funkier than this without going back and consulting with George Clinton. A little Herbie Hancock scratching for good measure makes the song going down all that much better. She's In Control is all about living in the past but having fun while doing it. Chromeo may be as successful as Daft Punk but a little more party friendly and a hell of a lot funkier.
