The Gentlemen are a bit of a side project for Mike Gent of the Figgs fame. Basically, The Gentlemen is The Gravel Pit fronted by Mike Gent of The Figgs fame. Their sound is very similar to that of the Figgs. They utilize a Elvis Costello feel to their music and Gent uses his sneering vocal to pass as a more superior band than the current Figgs. Gent sounds like he is re-inspired with these musicians. The last Figgs album was a little disappointing but Blondes Prefer really delivers on all the power pop you need for your daily fix. The album comes off as a classic even though it was just released last year. It just has that timeless feel to it like classics so often do. It should be mentioned that Blondes Prefer is the group's second album. Their first met to critical acclaim as well, so they are anticipating the same on this album. Some of the tracks here are even more rambunctious than what you would hear from the Figgs, like "He Is Risen". There is a little more swagger in the Gentlemen too making that classic feel. Highly recommended.
