RecommendAmerican based Scott Laurent is a singer/songwriter that is actually getting more attention in Europe than he is in his homeland. This may be because in 1996 he played at the SxSW Music Festival and was signed by Milan-based CDM Records. They went on to release 3 albums and are set to release The Truth Is Lies in Italy. Laurent's sound is a little rootsy but has enough pop elements to make is easily digestible. His voice reminds me somewhat of Bryan Adams but the music has more of an Americana feel to it. The vocals are a little raspy but they work for his songs. The album is filled with great rockers like "Angel's Fly" and the more mellow ballads like "Wondering". They're all good. Laurent has the talent to become a star. It's just a matter of an album like The Truth Is Lies getting into the right person's hands. Italy seems to have noticed, why not the USA?
