Side Walk Slam has overcome adversary with the leaving of the old lead singer but when Josiah Curtis stepped forward they jumped right back where they left off. The band started off as a cover band in their teens and then, as most cover bands do, they started writing their own material and chose to play those songs rather than the covers. And We Drive is actually their third album and this one was recorded by the infamous Bill Stevenson and Jason Livermore. This production team did their past 2 albums and Side Walk Slam brought them in once again. If you have albums by the likes of MxPx or Blink 182, Side Walk Slam is going to sound familiar. The guys in the band are good punk/pop musicians that have honed their art through endless touring. The band is very young, it's newest member Neil Endicott just turned 18 and has never been on tour before. It is really hard to pull out favorite tracks off of And We Drive because they are all executed fairly well. The band seems tight but it feels like they are missing a little bit in the hooks department. If this was the first punk/pop album I had ever heard, I might be totally impressed but as it stands, bands like this are a dime a dozen. I wouldn't say that you should stay away from Side Walk Slam. Instead, if they come to your hometown, go check them out and you be the judge.
