P'taah - Compressed Light
Although Wamdue Project's Chris Brann may be pigeonholed now as a house music producer. His new project, P'taah, should hopefully expand his fanbase. Compressed Light contains some of the best atmospheric downtempo to be heard. Chris is able to play with organic soundscapes and fuse downtempo jazz and beats into the mix to create a juicy slab of what could be called the future of Acid Jazz. He has saxophones weaving in and out on some tracks as well as some tribal sounds not unlike alot of ECM artists Chris has been listening to lately. The tracks sound familiar and yet you know nothing like this has ever been done before. One listen should have you convinced that Chris Brann is a forward looking musician and he is not afraid of including other genres in his own style of downtempo electronica.
