Alli With An I has been around for a few years. They formed in 2000 in Raleigh, NC out of the ashes of two local high school bands. They found a rich kid at school to release their first album entitled Long Story Short. Everyone loved the album and they eventually found themselves playing shows with Taking Back Sunday, Brand New, Grade, The Reunion Show and many others. Earlier this year, the young band headed into the studio with Brian Paulson (Beck, Uncle Tupelo, Avail, Archers of Loaf) and recorded I Learned By Watching You, a very impressive follow-up to their self released debut. Alli With An I is a pop-punk band in the best sense of the term. They could easily fit onto such labels as Vagrant or Drive Thru but instead they ended up on Law of Inertia in good company with the Reunion Show and Ultimate Fakebook. The sounds on this album is a treat after a couple listens. Upon first listen I was a little disappointed but after the 3-4 time, Alli With An I starts to really grow on you. They have a bit of a 90's feel to them but they know what elements befit them and throw away the rest. Matt Sileno's vocals are youthful but very inspirational. The band has a bit of an emo feel but keeps enough pop elements in there for good measure. I just have a problem with the name, that's it.
