Sense Field is a California-based band that has been through a lot and many would consider that they have paid their dues. Well, they saw a little success with a track called "Save Yourself" in 2002. The band has had one foot in the punk arena but as of Living Outside, we can pretty much say that the band has dropped their punk ethos. Instead, they move into more of a commercial area that bands like Jimmy Eat World have been enjoying success. There are way too many pop elements here to be considered punk any more. Sense Field remind me a lot of Manic Street Preachers in this incarnation. This is a good thing. The production values of bands like Manic Street Preachers is something that has pretty much guaranteed their success. Let's see if Sense Field can also pull that one off. Sometimes having a hit like that messes up a band. Other times, a band pulls off a follow-up and then their career is made. Living Outside is pretty damn catchy and I think that they should be able to find a hit on this album, if the right program director gets ahold of this album. Production values are right up there with current radio hits and the songwriting is strong. There are a couple of weak tracks on the album like "I Refuse" but this album would be worthy of your hard earned money. "Memory" kicks ass.
