The German born, Ian Pooley has been making quite a splash in his short spanned career. Only his second full length album and he is garnering all sorts of rave reviews. Is worth the hype? That all depends on what sort of slinky house beats you like. The sort that Ian gets into on Since Then is a Latin house fusion that incorporates a bit of bossa and salsa, but not enough to overwhelm. He keeps control of the rhythm and never lets you get taken to far away from the albums main purpose, and that is to dance. The odd trumpet will phase in out of nowhere and the go right back into the netherworld. Same goes for the clava that is never too upfront. The whole inspiration of this album is Pooley's travel to exotic places and discovering other cultures music. A natural instinct for anyone but the difference here is that Ian never let's it take over his own music. A perfect album to warm your soul in the middle of winter.
