I have just gotten my first introduction to F Communications was with two artists, Avril and Alexkid, both very interesting and cutting edge electronica artists. Megasoft Office 2003 is F Communications latest chapter in the label's compilation. It features tracks from both Avril and Alexkid as well a some other artists that I have heard of like Jori Hulkkonen, Elegia, Jay Alansky, Lo-Fi, Aqua Bassino and many others. Laurent Garnier is the man behind the F Communications label and he has been putting out the Megasoft albums out regularly since 1997. After listening to the very impressive Avril and Alexkid albums, I had very high expectations for the 2003 edition. The album starts out with Jori's "Styrkkarit Laukee", a bit of a boring track that never really did anything for me. Elegia follows that up with a little more energetic "To Become...Cause It's Better Than Remembering", but still, nothing really out of the ordinary. "Shrink" is one of the first more interesting tracks, with it's scattered background and repetitive piano foreground. Alexkid's contribution is interesting as is Avril's. Actually, Avril's sounds more like a soundtrack piece than anything. While Megasoft is a good introduction to the label, I think you might be better off with some individual albums. This album didn't hold my interest enough to recommend.
