The Bronx is a band making waves in the indie world. Upon my first listen I am left thinking of Fugazi's Ian MacKaye fronting Rocket From The Crypt, or something like that. What I'm trying to get at is The Bronx has a lot in common with the post-punk sound of the DC area while keeping a firm grasp on a heavy rock sound. The album starts out with the fading in of "Heart Attack American" before they hammer the listener over the head with a good dose of what to expect from the band. It's really amazing how tight The Bronx are. And I read on their site that this albums was even recorded in a live setting. Of course, that's the only way a band is capable of getting this much energy onto an album. These guys are the real deal. You want a poster band for bringing back rock? These guys are it. Despite the major label offers they decided to do it themselves. Inside the album is a spray paint stencil for you to go out and spread the word. The music is intense with Matt Caughthran's vocals leading the way. I even hear a little bit of Henry Rollins on "I Got Chills". Gilby Clarke of Guns and Roses fame is the man behind the production of The Bronx. Let's hope he keeps up the good work and continues to put out killer albums like this one.
