If you had a list of hardcore bands that have kept it real for their entire existence, Sick Of It All would be near the top of the list. It's been about three years since we have seen a studio album from these New York veterans. Last year saw the impressive live set called Live In A Dive but Yours Truly was their last studio effort and that was back in 2000. You know more than to ask if they have changed it up at all. Sick Of It All is one of the most reliable hardcore punk bands out there. There are so many bands out there trying to get the equation right but it's bands like Sick Of It All that lay down the law. They are the prototype for hardcore, like it or not. And after more than fifteen years doing it their way, they may have actually got the album of their career here. Life On The Ropes is an intense album that hits like a ton of bricks, right where it hurts the most, the cerebrum. Old school fans will relish in tracks like "Silence" and the aptly titled opening track, "Relentless". Relentless is how you feel after trudging your way through the 38 minute, 16 track album. New hardcore fans should stand up and pay attention to Sick of it All because this is what you need to look for in a favorite band, balls, the odd sing-along chorus, and rampant guitar riffs that are razor sharp. I haven't even gotten into Lou's strong vocals.
