Pete Miser is one of the smoothest hip hop artists that I have heard in some time. Radio Free Brooklyn is an album that creeps up on you and smacks you in the face. The album starts off with a track called "Bring It To The Masses" which sounds like everyday fare. I could have done this track. But that's when you let your guard down. The Portland native hits you hard with the title track. It gets you a little more prepared for what to expect in the upcoming 50 minutes. What's interesting about Pete Miser is that he both MC's as well as DJ's, and he does both with some pretty impressive skills. It's my understanding that he was born and raised in Portland, OR and now calls New York City home. That would be why he thinks he's underground. And if you already didn't think that he was underground then he will let you know that he is indeed an underground hip-hop artist. Not only that but he pulls of this entire album all by himself, save two tracks with guest artists on them. Pretty amazing for a hip hop artist. Miser never hits super hard. Instead, he plays it somewhat downtempo and sneaks into your sub-conscience. It's a good album. Check it out.
