A Static Lullaby follows along the path laid out by the likes of Thursday and Thrice with the combination of emo and hardcore. They aren't the first and they sure won't be the last with the recent major label signings of Thrice and Thursday. A Static Lullaby does rank in the top of this new found genre. Their music is heavy and yet accessible, just what is required for a good screamo band. The five piece band hails from Chino, CA, home of the infamous Chino State Penitentiary. This may be where their anger comes from but rest assured that they put it all together in a nicely wrapped package. There are pieces of Static Lullaby that also remind me of A Beautiful Mistake - the same sort of vocal combination. No single songs stands out but after about 3 repeat listens I was starting to really get into this. Not original but they are apt musicians peddling their wares. If you have had enough of the likes of the emo/hardcore thing then one more band like Static Lullaby may put you over the edge, but if you are like me, I'll take this over much of the other drivel that's polluting our airwaves right now.

An emo and hardcore combination at it's greatest. I completely agree with this review. Some of the songs have a hardcore beat to them, but soft lyrics. While the lyrics may be soft, that doesnt mean you should completely disregard giving attention to this band. From listening to this album, you can tell that the band worked very hard, spilling emotions on their instruments and down onto the lyrics of every track. If you aren't quite sure if you're into the whole screamo genre of music, then i would suggest giving this band a brief listen and see if they cannot persuade you.
