I didn’t really get into this female fronted electronica act but after I made it half way through I found myself getting a little more into it. Pitch Black Dream is basically a duo. The singer-songwriter is Bernadette McCallion who has quite a nice voice. The songwriter/producer is Rich Gaglia who has some very unique sounds happening on Never Going Home. They are based in New York and are sure to have some strong followings there. Never Going Home is very pop oriented and is focused on bringing listeners in quickly with different sounds and beautiful vocals provided by Bernadette. She and Rich got together when Rich produced Bernadette’s solo CD Cry Wolf. They obviously enjoyed working together and Home is the result. My only complaint with Pitch Black Dream is that there should be a little more variety on the CD. What’s there is hypnotizing but there could have been a few different rhythms and beats going on throughout the album. Other than that, any fan of female fronted electronica should head over to CDBaby to pick this disc up.
