Silo The Huskie is a band that has paid their dues. They have been around since 1994 and Sons of Columbus mark their third full-length release. The cover art on Sons of Columbus is no great shakes at all but wait until you throw this in your CD player. The band comes from Columbus, Ohio (hence the name of this CD) and they received quite a bit of praise for their last self-titled release. After taking a couple of years off, the boys are ready to get back to where they left off. Sometimes it does a band good to take some time off. Sons Of Columbus proves that Silo The Huskie is a band to be reckoned with. They have a two guitar attack that really gets into your sub-conscience. Brian Barlup's vocals are edgy but catchy as well. There is a lot of influences at play here but in the end Silo The Huskie ends up sounding like an original band. There are times when a twang vocal slips out, like on the slower "Four and Twenty". I think people should pay attention to this poorly named band. If they changed their name and found a better designer for their covers, I think this Ohio foursome could make some waves in the indie rock world.
