In all honesty, It Still Moves is the very first thing that I have heard from My Morning Jacket. It is very impressive in all it's echoey goodness. Lead singer, Jim James sounds as if he is in a huge chamber while singing. The echo effects work very well for their down home, americana style. I must say that My Morning Jacket is nothing like I had anticipated. Instead of coming off indie-rockish, they sound more like the Band if Wayne Coyne had been involved instead of Robbie Robertson. I was impressed, again, to find out that Jim James had produced this wonderful album. The deep sound was recorded at a farm in Louisville, Kentucky and the echoes achieved from various areas on the farm. Hearts break on It Still Moves, something I would have never guessed from these guys but on tracks like "Rollin' Back" you can hear it bleeding out of every speaker hole. Rock, not at all. This band belongs right beside Gram Parsons and Neil Young. Hopefully My Morning Jacket will stand the test of time and become as legendary as those guys. This album is ideal on headphones in order to feel like you are right on the farm with James and the boys. It Still Moves is one of those albums that most definitely will stand the test of time and only get better and better with repeated listens.
