Kriztal attempts again to enter the electronica arena with a half-baked compilation. For some reason there is something missing on Sungrooves. Apparently Mark Riva travelled the world to search for these songs. I guess he hasn't heard of the internet for finding new music. He takes on production roles as well as the DJ role. The music is alright but by the time you get halfway through the mix you start to look for something more. I think this is the case of too much of the same thing. Some of the songs are downright groovy like Wagon Cookin's "Mae (Swag Remix)". It got me tapping my foot and moving to the beat. But then move that into the jazzy "Second Summer" is a little weak. Another cool track is "Nights Over Vauxhall" by Cuica. I think that this compilation would do fine for those people who buy their music in New Age shops. People that are really into world electronica would be better off going into a specialty music store that could deliver more ground breaking house beats than these. Sungrooves is not a bad compilation, it just seems like it's a little dated.
