Brian Transeau (henceforth known as BT) has been making Trance/House music for nearly a decade now and created quite a name for himself. He is always in Apple campaigns awestruck at how great their new computers are. Emotional Technology is his new album and if you can get past the cheesy cover with him in a white suit looking like a priest, you might find something worth taking home. BT is spreading himself into new territory using vocal driven electronic music. It still has elements of house in it but it is sounding a little more rock like. The track "Circles" is a good example of a more rock oriented track featuring the vocals of BT himself. It also incorporates some rapping by Rasco. BT sings on a few tracks on the album and proves that his vocals are not bad either. "Force of Gravity" is a track that is a little like something that Underworld would do. Same type of vocal work (provided by JC Chasez of NSync) that they have done with voices being faded into the left and right track. A little more house than Underworld but it's still a good track. "Last Moment of Clarity" is a little like some of his older music. BT is diving into a hard territory with this album. Some hardcore trance and house fans may find Emotional Technology a little to rock oriented and people just discovering BR may find this album a little bit cheesy. I think it's a good album that should please quite a wide variety of tastes. BT has a good ear for what works and what doesn't.
