Guster is a band that just can't seem to get a break. Well, they've made it as far as their fans our concerned. They have rabid fans that just love Guster but outside of that circle, it's very rare that you would run into someone who has even heard of them. Sure, they had an occasional hit on the radio but nothing that lasted. Keep It Together is their new album and if any track from the album makes it to radio, I think Guster will have made a name for themselves outside of their fan circle. Guster is not a full on rock band. No, they are more in the class of Gin Blossoms or even Crowded House. Their music is easily accessible and everyone from house moms to their hardest working fan would dig Keep It Together. That's the joy of being a rock critic. You can listen to music that should be on the radio without being pummeled to death by it. Because each year only 100 bands are allowed to be played on commercial radio, we end up hearing the same old song about 5000 times by the time the year is over. Enough about the demise of radio though, Guster is the topic and they should be on the radio. That's where they belong. Harmonies abound on pretty much every song and production on Keep It Together is pristine. There are some disposable songs but this is radio rock we are talking about here. One of my favorite non-radio tracks has to be "Jesus On The Radio". The harmonies are huge and I love banjo. Treat Guster right. Buy this album.

I definitely agree with this review. Guster has been a favorite of mine for a while, because each of the members is so versatile and the band can switch from bluegrass to indie to rock. I especially agree with their accesibility, because everyone I've showed them to has appereciated them no matter what kind of music they are into. Guster has a golden mean that they sit on where they don't hide themselves into any genre and stay just different enough to impress with every release all while never copying an already existing formula.
