This album is one of the loudest, ear ripping albums I have heard this year. Malefaction is a metal band that has been around for almost a decade, coming from the unassuming town of Winnipeg. They are ripping of ears and complete skulls all over the world with this God forsaken sound that they create. Grindcore, and metal for that matter, rarely sees anything so aggressive and bloody noisy. This album is up a notch from their last but really, how heavy can a band get? There are many a person who enjoys grindcore and heavy shit like this so I may be just getting old. Even with the mountain of sound that Malefaction has they still manage to get some diversity in their songs. There are breaks in the songs just before they unleash the terror. They lay waste to the legendary Death Sentence track "R.C.M.P." as a bonus track. Where There Is Power is indeed a powerful metal album but for this metal fan, it is too hard on the ears to listen to all at once. Anyone who digs this sort of thing will eat up Malefaction as one of the hardest and heaviest metal bands of recent years. And they are Canadian!
