Nightmares On Wax have taken a bit of different route for their return to the market. Mind Elevation is their long-awaited follow-up to the mind-blowing Carboot Soul. While Mind Elevation does have some of the laid-back beats like Carboot Soul there are some more upbeat tracks here that border on pop-electronica. Check out the smooth “Date With Destiny for a fine example of this pop-styled production. Tracks like the album opener “Mind Eye and “Say-Say really show the improvements George Evelyn has made with N.O.W.. There is a fine example of pop-meets-dub-meets-trip-hop on “70s 80s featuring LSK’s Lee Kenny. George mixes up vocal tracks with instrumental tracks in the perfect portions. Mind Elevation never leaves you bored like some other downtempo albums. There is something for everyone and if something isn’t for you on this album, it’s easy to take. Mind Elevation is a triumph for Nightmares On Wax. Continue forging ahead and you will come out in the lead.
