Culture - World Peace
Joseph Hill, the primary member of Culture, has been cranking out great reggae albums (30 but who's counting?) for the better part of a quarter century. While some releases were indeed better than others (could it be any other way?) there have been some classics released. Culture really has become a culture of rastafarian lifestyle. World Peace is an all original album with all the songs written by Joseph. Without much outside help, he has come up with quite a diverse reggae album. Some tracks diving into more melody and others taking the rhythmic route. Some of the great tracks include "No Segregation" and the album closer "Holy Mount Zion". While a lot of people look at reggae as a tired style of roots music, one cannot argue with what Culture is doing. This music is new and even though they are getting on in age they still remain completely relevant. World Peace is indeed a fun and honest album that will please old Culture fans as well as people listening to Culture for the first time.
