Ten Benson is about to embark on their North American debut with Benson Burner. Although these dudes sound like they could be from Alabama, they are indeed from the UK, blasting out southern rock tunes that sound like a total cross between AC/DC and Johnny Cash. Benson Burner starts out with one of the more rocking songs on the album, "Dark Forces". You know your in for some loud rock and roll with the gritty guitar intro into the song. The vocals on "Dark Forces" are the type that are sung through a megaphone. Then they get all rude just like true rockers on the simply titled "Tits". For the most part, the lead singer uses the megaphone styled vocals meaning one of two things, he really likes the way it sounds or he has no vocal abilities. One of my favorites has a Queens of the Stone Age feel to it. "Rock Cottage" just seems like a thick rhymefest with someone blowing bubbles in the bathtub. "I Don't Buy It" sounds like a T.Rex song. Ten Benson doesn't really bring anything new to the table. They stick to the tried and true rock formula, straying in a couple places but enjoy the thick distorted guitar sort of thing. Benson Burner is much better at max volume.
