A Traveller compilation from Six Degrees is something to always get excited about. Six Degrees has been around for a number of years now and not really had any bit hits. This wears hard on a label trying to get different music exposure on the scene. They did have some relative success with Bebel Gilberto but there are so many other great acts on Six Degrees that deserve some attention. Traveller is their annual collection of some of their eclectic music they have to offer. From flamenco hip-hop to Balkan drum n' bass, the label offers things that other labels would turn away. This collection starts off with Bobi Cespedes and a neat dub remix of her "Rezos" track. She is Cuban but a little different than what you would normally expect from a female cuban artist. Up next is Dzihan and Kamien with a track called "Stiff Jazz" reworked by Richard Dorfmeister and Rodney Hunter. These guys are from Austria and follow in the style that Kruder and Dorfmeister carved out. Midival Punditz provide a track exclusive to this compilation called "Dark Escape". There is an interesting track from a new signing called Lumin. They make use of a Kazakhstan vocalist named Irina Mikhailova. The track is entitled "Izgrala" and it fuses Eastern European music with electronica in the way that Garmarna has done in the past. Ben Neill is one artist that doesn't really fit into the mix. His music doesn't really contain any world influences but it is very cool. His track "Bugfunk" is included here. If you are a Six Degrees fan you will have already picked this one up but if you are curious about what their offerings are then this is a great place to start.
