For being such a bloody scary movie the 28 Days Later soundtrack is fairly subdued and ethereal in nature. The movie was scored by John Murphy, the man behind movie scores like Friday After Next, Snatch, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, and City By The Sea. There are a couple added features to this soundtrack in the form of a new Grandaddy song called "Am180" and a Blue States track called "Season Song" with what sounds like a chorus of children singing along. Brian Eno also has a track on here entitled "An Ending (Ascent)". These tracks are just added bonuses to the very stirring score that Murphy has come up with. He makes use of a vocalist on a couple of tracks. Her name is Perri Alleyne and she can be found on one of the coolest tracks on the album, "Taxi (Ave Maria)", to which there is a remix at the end of the album by Jacknife Lee. There is another remix here of the Blue States' "Season Song" by Rui Da Silva. This soundtrack won't be for everyone but people into classical style music will enjoy and it is good to put on as background music. The first three songs go by and you hardly know that anything has happened. "AM180" is the song that doesn't seem to fit. Sort of like the odd man out but because I really enjoy Grandaddy I really liked this song.
