If one follows the musical history of Francis Garcia, the primary member of Drive Till Morning, you can't help but feel nostalgic in every step. Floating in and out from AC/DC to the Cure, and taking some side steps to Dag Nasty and Fugazi. And as most musicians finally do, Garcia grew up and decided to focus on his personal songwriting styles and allow himself to be recognized as a multi-instrumentalist. This is where Drive Till Morning comes into play. Drive Till Morning is a personal, rootsy album that Francis has written and crafted that is unlike anything he has ever done before. And if you wanted personal music then have a listen to this album. You can't get much more personal than an acoustic guitar and vocals. Drive Till Morning's debut album starts out fairly poppy with a couple tracks. "Palmtrees Sway" sounds like an orchestral piece with quite a complex arrangement going on. The next track "Orange And Tweed" is quite experimental in the aspect of computer generated sounds. It has a drum track in it that doesn't sound familiar but Garcia's voice is pleasant. I would say this one is the album's highlight. His country influences really make their first appearance on "By Scenic Highway" and carry on from there. It would have been nice if he would have interspersed some more pop tunes in amongst all the country ones but as it is Drive Till Morning has managed quite an impressive debut album.
