While I'm not usually one for fingerstyle guitar, I do appreciate good guitarists. Steffen Basho-Junghans is a German born guitarist that plays in the style of Robbie Basho (a man who he borrowed part of his last name from) and John Fahey. While Steffen's guitar work is not completely original, none can argue that he is a master of the instrument. It's always a pleasure when you listen to guitar playing that is this intricate and this rhythmic. It is stated that he is highly influenced by the Takoma-era steel string guitar. Be it my ignorance but I haven't heard of this particular era. All I know is that Rivers and Bridges is a complicated guitar album that will please guitar aficionados the world over. Fingers that play this fast and accurate deserved to be praised. Steffen should enjoy some success from this album, his first to be released State-side.
