If there happened to be a power outage at one of Woven's live shows, they would be unable to continue. They rely heavily on effects, electronic beats and programmed music for their music. Woven's music is very intricate with contributions from all six members filling each song with a gamut of electronic sounds and smooth vocals. 8 Bit Monk is not instantly like-able. It took me a few listens to get into it but that is only because it really is like nothing you have ever heard before. It borders a bit on Radiohead in their Amnesiac stage but it has a little more Nine Inch Nails influence. Woven never really get heavy in sound. I think a better word would be loud. They never really get loud but there are dark areas in their music that seem to wrap right around you and make you feel a little uncomfortable. It sounds like they want to be heavier but they keep themselves restrained. If you are after guitar rock, look elsewhere. If you would like to see one interesting view at how music will be in the future, check out Woven. It's a very original work that should leave you scratching your head wondering how they did it all.
