Every time a new Deftones hits the shelves I get all warm and fuzzy inside. Even with the amount of imitators on the market these days, I can't get tired of the Deftones style of dynamic metal. Moreno's vocals have never been matched by anyone and the monster riffs that the band comes up with are not to be taken lightly. This is their first self-titled album, usually indicating that a band has reinvented themselves or completely figured out who they are. I would go with the latter here because the style sure hasn't changed much. I've heard some critics flogging them for not changing much but when a band like this is so damn unique it is hard to justify. Listen to a track like "Deathblow" and you just never know when the band is going to pummel you with their onslaught. Chino's vocals are finer than ever on Deftones. Other bands have tried incorporating two vocalists to get the dynamic soft/hard that Chino has perfected. And the screaming vocals of "When Girls Telephone Boys" is what holds the metal fans. Deftones are always a treat and I hope that these guys stick around for a long time to come. They just make you feel so much better. They are are fine way to get your anger out.

When have the Deftones ever put out a bad album? To take that a step further, when have they ever put out a bad track? Never. Deftones make amazing music and pour their hearts and souls out with every single minute devoted to their fans. This album is an amazing self titled release from these guys. It sounds flawless and easily something that will be listened to over and over again once you play it through the first time. If you haven't ever listened to the Deftones, do one of two things. Slap yourself for being an idiot, or pick up an album by them immediately and listen.
