I did a little research while doing this Eluvium review. I hadn't the slightest idea what the bands title meant, if anything but I actually found a definition: Eluvium:Â Â Usually sand accumulated by wind; similar material collected by water is called alluvium. This made this review a lot easier. You see, sometimes bands choose names that are perfect for their sounds and Eluvium is one of them. There should be a warning on Lambent Material that it should not be listened to while operating heavy machinery, or any machinery for that matter. There is not a drum to be found on these five songs. And the way the sounds sweep back and forth reminds me of how the ocean tide moves in and out. But Eluvium is a little darker than the ocean. I picture the setting that Matthew Cooper (Eluvium) had more a solitary sand dune in mind when he created this music. Guitars and pianos are used to make this music that is soft enough to put babies to sleep. And for that I give it 3.5.
