The Washdown is a new band from Tampa, FL that is about ready to take on the big guys in the rock arena. Last year they packed a CMJ show in New York which brought them to the attention of the Lookout Records powers that be. While it wouldn't be a far stretch to see The Washdown on tour with the Hives or The White Stripes, they do stand out on their own. Their sound does have that garage rock sound but it is mixed with a great old school punk ethos that adds to their sound. This EP does provide some disappointment in only being 13 minutes long but the cool disc almost makes up for it. It has clear plastic except for a little bit in the center. I'm not sure if The Washdown is going to be the next big thing because the remind me a little too much of International Noise Conspiracy but I would look for them on tour with that band. It's not an easy sound to master but the Washdown has done a nice job. I
