Shout! is a testament to a successful club night in New York City. It was the vision of Steve Pestana and Pedro Mena to start up a club night that showcased the garage rock revolution that was taking place all over the country. They have had a residency at Bar 13, just off Union Square that has been going every Sunday night for the last 6+ years. Usually the guys would just play some of the coolest soulful dance tunes that they have discovered but at times they would bring in one of the cool bands they had been promoting. Obviously fitting a niche that wasn't met, Shout! has turned into a phenomenon. The Revolution Rave-Up Alive 1997-2003 is a CD document of what has been going on at the club for the past few years. You can hear tracks by Vue, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Warlocks, Calla, Elefant, and many others. It's a great rock and roll album that will appeal to anyone who's interested in the garage rock revival sounds like the White Stripes and Yeah Yeah Yeah's. It's just too bad that Shout! hasn't made it's way to every major city in America. Given time, it just may. There is so much heart in this music that it's just bound to spread.
