Rise Ashen is the musical project of Ottawa's Eric Vani. Eric has worked with a number of artists, producing their material and has been sighted doing as doing a lot of music engineering. Earth Dragon is his new offering and I'm very impressed with what I've heard. There are 10 varied tracks on the album all ranging in the 5 minute long area. The music would fit into the electronica genre but it is quite diverse from song to song. For instance, "Seasons" is a full on dub track and done very well, I might add. The primary feel of Rise Ashen, though, is a jazzy electro beat, that would be considered loungy. "Let It Move You" is a perfectly named track. It starts out fairly quiet and then Eric turns it on a little ways into it. You can't help but bop along to it. On "Rock This Beat" Rise Ashen chooses to develop a track on top of a breakbeat that is almost drum and bass in nature. Find out why great DJ's like Roger Sanchez is licensing tracks from Rise Ashen. He is a great producer that will appeal to anyone into laid back electronica.
