Skinjobs is a new queercore band to come our way from Vancouver BC. While the band may not be familiar to you, the players might be. Skinjobs features Kim Kinakin, ex-Sparkmarker, on guitar and Laura Schultz, ex-Queasy on drums. This might give you a bit of an idea what the band sounds like just with those band references. The band is rounded out by Mimi Mahovlich on bass. The classic queercore fore-fathers have been raving about the Skinjobs, which alone warrants further investigation. Burn Your Rainbow was recorded by Blair Calibaba (Sum 41, Gob) and cover designed by Kim himself. Kim and the girls trade off vocal duties providing an all-round punk experience. The band is a mix of the hardcore sounds of Sparkmarker with the punk style of Pansy Division. Queer Punk has never sounded so fresh and different. The Skinjobs add a lot to the mix and their music is super creative. They are queer and proud of it. There is even four extra spoken word tracks that add a different dimension to the group.
