One of Nutone's recent signings is the UK production duo known as Sounds From The Ground. This is the project of Elliot Morgan Jones and Nick Woolfson who met in London back in 1995. After doing a few studio sessions and performing at festivals like Glastonbury and The Big Chill the next move was more an international one that involved the Waveform label. They release Terra Firma to a very favorable reception. Their next move was to sign with a more prominent label and that was indeed Nettwerk offshoot, Nutone. Natural Selection is their debut for the label (third full-length release) and should please past fans of the duo. Sound From The Ground may come off as just another downtempo band but upon closer inspection, Natural Selection has many subtle surprises. The music sounds as if it's blossoming right out of the ground. Overtones are mellow but the guys manage to have a mature and sunny aura. There is a nice mix between instrumental tracks and vocal tracks. I don't recognize any of the female vocalists (Nicola Hitchcock, Colein, Aine) but they are all equally skilled at providing diva style vocals for Sounds From The Ground.
