Britta Phillips' day job is playing bass for a band called Luna. Funny enough that Dean Wareham is the creator and principal in the aforementioned band. Seems that they couldn't get enough of doing duets so they have decided to record an album with just the two of them where all Luna expectations are held at bay. Dean and Britta wrote a number of songs for L'Avventura but they also chose to cover quite a few tracks. Included here are "Moonshot" by Buffy St. Marie, "I Deserve It" from the infamous Madonna (Dean's voice is an eerie fit for the song), a track from an earlier incarnation of Mazzy Star with a song called "Hear The Wind Blow" and the album finishes with The Doors' "Indian Summer". Dean and Britta brought in Tony Visconti (Davie Bowie, T. Rex, the Stranglers, Thin Lizzy) to produce the album with the hopes of turning L'Avventura into an instant classic. They come close. The duets that Britta and Dean do are the real standouts. On "Ginger Snaps" their voices intermingle like very few are capable. There are some tracks that are exclusively Dean singing and some with just Britta. It turns out that either way these two showcase what a perfect duo they make.
