Celso Fonseca has been around the Brazilian music scene for quite some time now but until now, his music wasn't heard outside of the country. As Natural shows, it is quite a shame. Fonseca has actually release about 5 full-length albums in Brazil and thanks to Six Degrees, we are about to hear our first taste of this talented musician and songwriter. He sounds like one of his forefather's Baden Powell, which he covers on "Consolacao". Besides that and a Jobim track, the rest of the Natural is strictly Fonseca's songwriting shining through. Speaking of Jobim, Antonio Carlos' grandson Daniel Jobim plays piano on the album. The music is also reminiscent of Caetano Veloso, or I should say the vocal style is. Celso has been a hidden treasure but Natural is sure to let the rest of the world in on Brazil's secret. Fonseca is the new Bossa Nova sound. Natural makes him sound world class and only time stands in the way of this album being considered a classic album beside Getz and Gilberto.
