Budapest is a new band from the UK that actually has been better received over in North America than their native England. Their style of rock is a melancholic brand that many bands have been doing in England like Elbow, Starsailer, and Turin Brakes. You might even hear some similarities to Coldplay but Budapest tends to be not quite as dramatic. Too Blind To Hear starts off with the guitar on "Is This The Best It Gets", one of the albums strongest songs. Vocalist John Garrison has a quite feminine voice that works very well with their ballads. "Look You In The Eye" has a darker overtone over it that holds until the chorus. "Wake Up Call" starts out almost like an Oasis track but as soon as John starts singing the two are very distinguishable. Too Blind To Hear is a mind-blowing debut but it does show Budapest to be a very promising band and one to watch for in the future. If you are a fan of melancholic, melodic rock then you need this album. I predict that a few songs from Too Blind To Hear will make it into some movie soundtracks.
