On the first track of the debut of Magnétophone I had to check and make sure my cd player wasn't broken. There are breaks in the middle of the track with complete silence and the rest of the time it sounds as if the disc is going backwards. Normally I don't really care for this type of "music" but Magnétophone has somehow found a way to make it seem intriguing and listenable. This Birmingham based duo makes use of old synthesizers, effects pedals, and loads of experimentation. It's not all pleasure though, but when they hit their stride it sounds magnificent.
