Bob Holroyd is ready to drop his fourth full-length album and second for Six Degrees, Without Within. The album opens with "Looking Back", a track utilizing the voices of Koi San tribesmen from the Kalahari Desert. If it was comparisons to Peter Gabriel that Bob Holroyd wanted, he will now get it after covering Gabriel's "Games Without Frontiers". It was completely unnecessary but he does a fairly good job on it. It doesn't stray too far from the original. The rest of the album is a mix of new world beats and rhythms with old African style vocals and chants. The only track that Bob provides vocals on is the Peter Gabriel track and it's too bad because he does have a fine voice. Trumpets are used quite frequently on this album in a spooky, almost ethereal way to bring out even more emotions out of the songs. Holroyd's music is new age in style and worldly in presence. There are enough worldly (mostly African) traits to his music and world music lover will relish in the way that he stays true to form.
