After helping out with everyone from Felix da Housecat and Golden Boy (all labelmates now) Miss Kittin makes the move to go solo. And basically, Radio Caroline Vol. 1 is the chance for her to provide us with a hot little DJ mix. In actual fact, Kittin doesn't really provide any vocals like on her offerings for the above artists, except in between tracks as an almost narrative. Before Caroline Herve (her real name) started providing vocals for other artists she was a high profile techno DJ in Europe. She was one of those artists who would drop a classic Prince track right alongside a crazy Autechre track. Some of the more prominent and recognizable artists include Delarosa & Asora, Autechre, Panasonic and Walking Industries. The rest of the artists are a wide spectrum of electronic artists. And as another personal touch, the liner notes consist of an actual Miss Kittin fanclub website chatroom posting. Very interesting and creative, Miss Kittin has succeeded in throwing together a very personal mix tape of some of her favorite music. It's primarily IDM music but other electronica fans may get into Radio Caroline as well.
